What if you don’t feel like swimming?

“I can do things I don’t feel like doing.”

We all want to be free to do what we want to do.

But whatever goals we set for ourselves, there will be times when we just don’t feel like doing things that we need to do to accomplish those goals. In the article, they used the example of getting off the couch, when it may feel cozy and nice to sit and watch Netflix or just zone out.

I can think of a lot of things in my life that I know I need to do, but procrastinate on, because they are not so exciting or interesting.

Like doing the dishes 🙁

But the idea is to accept these thoughts (i.e. “I don’t feel like it!”) and proceed anyway.

Maybe it’s finishing a set.

Running when it’s cold outside.

Being angry at the bad weather and wanting to just sit by a fire instead of exercising.

Maybe it’s opting to decline that second cupcake or going with scrambled eggs over pancakes. Or it could even be stretching when you’re excited to get to “the real work”.

What is your thing you don’t feel like doing, but you do it anyway?

Can you apply this to all parts of your life, and work it into your daily exercise and training?

Remember, it’s not about beating yourself up, but rather, accepting that you aren’t feeling like doing something but proceed to do it anyway.

“Yes brain, I understand that this isn’t the best time for this. But after, and likely during, we will feel good!”

Befriend the water!
